Overview


This is a facial pain condition which is continuous or near continuous, described as burning or squeezing. It is in the distribution of the trigeminal nerve which carries sensation from your face to the brain.

Symptoms & Diagnosis


This is a continuous or near continuous pain. There may be superimposed brief shooting pain. There is also reduced sensation and pain (allodynia) on touching the face. Investigations may include imaging of the head and trigeminal nerve, blood tests, neurophysiology and lumbar punctures.
